Toll Logistics(Asia) Limited (the "Company") began operations in 1980 as Kimtrans Shipping Pte Ltd. Starting off as a port operation and transportation company, we gained much experience from our varied projects which strongly augmented our logistics capabilities. By 1990, our range of services offered were broadened substantially. Besides being able to handle complicated logistic projects, we were also able to provide services in construction and mining project logistics, project shipping for the oil and gas industry, warehousing, air and sea freight forwarding and several transportation services. In that same year, we were renamed Kimtrans Singapore Pte Ltd to better reflect the extensive range of services provided.
In 1994, Sembawang Kimtrans (S) Pte Ltd was incorporated as a joint venture company with SembCorp Express Pte Ltd, to expand the business and provide more diversified quality services to our customers. This move enabled the Group to tap on the strengths of the two parent companies. With the incorporation, the Group was able to better delegate and focus on the relevant businesses amongst its companies - where all logistics related business and contracts were transferred from Kimtrans Singapore Pte Ltd to the Company.
Sembawang Kimtrans was listed on Singapore Stock Exchange in February 2000.
On 13 June 2007, Toll Express (Asia) Pte Ltd ("Toll Express") has made a voluntary conditional cash offer (the "Offer") for all the remaining ordinary shares in the capital of Sembawang Kimtrans Ltd in issue not already owned, controlled or agreed to be acquired by Toll Asia Group.
The Offer has been completed and Sembawang Kimtrans Ltd is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toll Asia Group.
Sembawang Kimtrans was delisted from the Official List of SGX-ST on 26 October 2007.
On 31 Jan 2008, Sembawang Kimtrans Ltd has changed its name to "TOLL LOGISTICS (ASIA) LIMITED".
